What can Chinese Medicine treat?

Chinese medicine is successfully used for a very wide range of conditions. Among the more commonly treated disorders are:

  • Skin disease:  including eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, urticaria. This is actually one of my specialities (Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology)
  • Menopausal symptoms: hot flushes, spontaneous sweating etc. I have seen these symptoms respond very well in my practice.

  • Gastro-intestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic constipation, ulcerative colitis
  • Gynaecological conditions, including pre-menstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhoea, endometriosis, infertility
  • Respiratory conditions, including asthma, bronchitis, and chronic coughs, allergic and perennial rhinitis and sinusitis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Musculoskeletal problems: sciatica, lower back pain, neck and shoulder tension, and other painful conditions
  • Insomnia
  • Urinary conditions including chronic cystitis
  • Children's diseases including allergic rhinitis/hayfever and asthma

Many of these conditions, especially in their chronic forms, create great difficulty for conventional medicine, whilst Chinese Herbal Medicine has a great deal to offer. The results that can be expected and the length of treatment required will depend on the severity of the condition, its duration, and the general health of the patient.
